Coaching Life Quotes on Listening

Listening is the easy way to say you care. It says to the customer that you understand their feelings and concerns as well as effectively communicates the importance of what they are telling you. By listening to understand, your tendency to become pre-occupied is narrowed. Drifting in and out of conversations does little to build credibility with accounts or other people that you believe to be important to you.It is never an easy process to sit back and listen. It is always easier for us to hear ourselves go on and on about something that we are interested in talking about. Most salespeople want to show up and throw up: never taking to time to listen for opportunities that lead to building a relationship with the client nor asking insightful questions that will lead to profitable opportunities on the behalf of the customer and yourself.

Comments that you make indicate your degree of listening, empathy, and interest with your client. School yourself in finding the best questions you can ask that will give you the most information in the shortest amount of time. This is a learned skill and those that master it will be the most successful in the profession.
