Wonder - It Doesn't Happen Enough
Wonder is wonderful emotion. It allows us to feel that there is something greater than us, that significance really matters and that the pause for understanding is really worth the effort.
As we get older, the opportunity to experience this emotion seems to be more fleeting and I wonder, how can the be? The world is full of opportunities to experience new beginnings and experiences, marvel at the sites and sounds that have be all to familiar to our daily surroundings.
But few of us choose to explore the unknown, looking for a chance to experience a sense of wonderment at things not totally understood.
Life comes at us pretty quickly these days and most of us are so caught up in the regularity of life that we forget to look at things that might be irregular that can provide us with a sense of wonder.
If you have forgotten this emotion, spend some time with a child that is learning about the world. At every turn you will see eyes open wide and unquestioned joy when they experience something new and wonderful and not totally understood. Find your sense of wonder again. Life certainly will not remain dull.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
- Albert Einstein
